Austin Office Complex HVAC Replacement
A full HVAC system replacement for a two-story, 8,000 sq ft office complex in Austin, TX — removing four aging rooftop units, installing new 5-ton high-efficiency package units, replacing all ductwork in the ceiling plenum, and upgrading to digital zone controls.

The Challenge
The existing 20-year-old rooftop units were failing during peak Austin summer heat, causing uncomfortable temperatures and high energy bills. Ductwork was original to the building and leaking — replacing only the equipment would have left 30-40% of cooling capacity escaping into the plenum. All offices remained occupied throughout the project.
Our Solution
We replaced one RTU at a time, maintaining cooling to the rest of the building throughout. Each unit was craned off and replaced in a single day, then connected to digital zone controls before moving to the next. Ductwork in each affected zone was replaced and sealed to current energy code standards before moving on, so every zone got new ducts alongside its new unit.
The Results
The completed system reduced the building's monthly energy costs by 28% compared to the same months the prior year. New digital zone controls eliminated thermostat conflicts between floors. All four units passed startup commissioning and city inspection. The building owner reported zero HVAC-related tenant complaints in the 8 months since installation.
